Flotation Machines FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

A flotation machine is used to separate valuable minerals from unwanted material by exploiting differences in their surface properties. Air bubbles are introduced into the slurry, allowing hydrophobic mineral particles to attach to the bubbles and rise to the surface as froth.

The LAARMANN LMFTM can be configured with interchangeable flotation cells ranging from approximately 0.2 to 7 litres, allowing laboratories to perform tests at different sample volumes.

Yes. The LMFTM provides digital control of important flotation parameters, including impeller speed and air flow. Optional instruments can also be used to monitor parameters such as pH, temperature and flotation level.

In a bottom-driven flotation machine, the impeller is positioned at the bottom of the flotation cell. The impeller agitates the slurry and disperses air through the cell, promoting contact between mineral particles and air bubbles for efficient flotation and froth formation.
