The air jet machine is used for sieving powder and dry grain products by obtaining sieving results between 5 to 4000 microns. Its working foundation is based on the use of air that tug thin particles to make them go through the sieve. This effect is made through a vacuum machine that provokes a controlled decrease of pressure.

Air jet Sieve shaker working principle

The LAARMANN LMAJ200 Air Jet Sieve Shaker separates particles by combining a controlled air jet with vacuum-assisted pressure reduction. A rotating nozzle directs a focused air stream through the sieve fabric to disperse and fluidize powders that would otherwise compact, agglomerate, or blind the mesh. The vacuum maintains a consistent airflow through the sieve, improving separation efficiency and repeatability while keeping the process cleaner. This working principle is particularly effective for fine, light, or cohesive powders, where conventional mechanical sieving may struggle.

How it works

In the LMAJ200, the sample is placed on a 200 mm / 8" test sieve and enclosed with a collector and lid to support controlled airflow. During operation, the rotating slit nozzle sweeps a high-velocity air jet across the sieve surface, continuously loosening the material and bringing fresh particles into contact with the mesh openings. At the same time, the connected vacuum/dust extraction creates pressure reduction beneath the sieve and pulls air uniformly through the mesh, helping undersize particles pass efficiently into the collector while oversize remains on the sieve. The result is a fast and repeatable separation that reduces sieve blinding and supports reliable particle size analysis.

LMAJ200 Air Jet Sieve Shaker FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

The LMAJ200 is designed for air jet sieving results from 5 to 4000 microns (µm), depending on sieve selection and material.

It supports 200 mm diameter / 8 inch test sieves.

Typical sieve mesh sizes available are 20 µm to 1.7 mm, depending on your sieving plan and chosen sieve set.

A rotating nozzle directs a controlled air jet through the sieve to disperse and fluidize the sample. This helps reduce sieve blinding and improves separation, especially for fine or cohesive powders.

Air jet sieving typically uses a vacuum/dust collection connection to create controlled pressure reduction and keep the test area clean. The LMAJ200 includes a dust extraction point for this purpose.

The configuration supports up to 9 sieves plus collector and lid.

The listed electrical connection is 220–240 V ±10%, 50 Hz, single-phase.

Applications

The ability to precisely control the airflow and sieve settings makes air jet sieve shakers suitable for a range of applications, including pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, food powders, and fine minerals.
