Big Bag Installation with vezin sampler and carousel
The LAARMANN Big Bag Sampler is an automated system designed to divide large bulk samples into accurate, representative sub-samples for further processing or analysis.
How It Works
Material is loaded into the large funnel using a forklift. This material typically arrives directly from delivery and is packed in big bags. Once loaded, a vibratory feeder transports the material either:- Onto a rotating carousel with dividing heads, or
- Into the Vezin sampler for continuous stream sampling.
Carousel System
The rotating carousel uses dividing heads to guide falling material into separate collection containers (e.g., buckets). After processing, the dividing heads can be lifted pneumatically for easy removal of the filled buckets.
Vezin Sampler
The Vezin sampler extracts a representative portion from a constant stream of falling material using a rotating sampling spoon. The sample is collected, while the remaining material is directed into a reject big bag.
The Big Bag Installation key components
The system consists of several key components: the Vezin sampler, which extracts a representative portion from a continuous material stream, and the sample reject big bag (B), which collects all remaining non-sampled material.
The divided samples are collected in the collector buckets (C), while all electrical controls and the operating interface are housed in the control box (D).
The divider (E) ensures accurate distribution of material into the buckets, and in versions equipped with it, the pneumatic lifter (F) raises the divider heads for easy bucket access. For Vezin sampler operation, the system includes a vibratory feeder extension (G) and a vibratory feeder or conveyor belt (H) that transports the material. A pneumatic valve (I) releases material from the funnel (J), which is fed by bags opened with the big bag piercing tool (K).
To maintain consistent flow, the funnel vibrators (L) ensure smooth movement of material into the vibratory feeder.
Control Panel Settings
The control panel allows full adjustment of all sampling functions. In the Vezin sampler settings, the operator can choose continuous rotation or single-interval operation, while setting the rotation speed between 30 and 50 Hz—where 50 Hz corresponds to approximately 0.6 m/s according to standard requirements, and lower speeds (around 30 Hz, ≈ 0.35 m/s) increase the sample volume. The carousel settings enable adjustment of the carousel rotation speed and include an option to open or close the safety cage. In the hopper settings, the vibration time of the three internal vibrators can be set, along with optional vibration intervals to maintain material flow. Finally, the vibratory feeder settings allow the vibration intensity to be adjusted as a percentage, ensuring precise control over the material feed rate.
